Success for STEF in the Big Give Christmas Challenge

We’re delighted to report that STEF hit its target of raising £12,500 during the Big Give Christmas Challenge week.  This means that the £6,250 donated by our wonderful supporters during Christmas Challenge week was matched by the Big Give organisation; so we doubled our money!  We’d like to thank all our donors for their amazing generosity.

This was the best possible Christmas present for STEF as we look towards 2022 and the continuation of the successful mobile clinic service we have been operating for the last year.  STEF is run by volunteers, so all the money collected during the Big Give week will go towards the running costs of our mobile clinic as we continue to treat sick and injured elephants in remote areas of Southern Thailand.

We also expect to have our elephant hospital at Khok Kloi up and running by the end of January.  There is just a little more work to be done on the accommodation block (kindly sponsored by The Hawthorne Charitable Trust) to house the mahouts of visiting elephants, and to accommodate veterinary students staying at the hospital to gain experience in looking after elephants.  STEF will also be recruiting an assistant veterinarian to work with Dr Aon.
