Khanun
Khanun’s owner observed this young female looking lethargic, as he previously had other elephants testing positive for the virus EEHV, which can be very dangerous to a young elephant if not treated quickly, he notified the vets at STEF, who rushed to the elephants’ aid. Thankfully Khanun’s blood tests came back negative for the deadly virus and other options were explored. After further tests it was determined that the young female was suffering from colic, unfortunately a common illnesses in elephants, causing often painful abdominal issues. After administering the colic treatment consisting of anti-inflamatory and antibiotic medication Khanun was feeling much better and ready to be discharged.
