The STEF veterinary team travelled to Phangan Island in Surat Thani after an urgent request to see a 70-year-old female named Jai D. Jai D had experienced a reduction in appetite for two months before stopping eating completely over the Past several days. Jai Ds water consumption was also reduced, and she presented as being depressed and lethargic.

The veterinary team gave Jai D several gastrointestinal medications, an anti-inflammatory drug, fluids and multivitamins. After a good night’s rest Jai D seemed much more active and started to eat and drink again. Teeth issues and gastrointestinal problems seemed to be the cause of Jai Ds discomfort and she was referred to the STEF hospital in Khok Kloi for any future treatment.
