Fang

Don’t be put off by the name; Fang is a bubbly, efficient coordinator who is “obsessed” with elephants, so she has certainly come to the right place!
Fang’s main responsibility will be to sort out all the bookings for the volunteer veterinary programme, and answering any queries that arise from the bookings. She will also be in charge of the day-to-day arrangements for the volunteers, though the volunteer programme itself will be organised and run by our chief veterinary officer, Dr Aon.

Fang took a degree in Tourism Management at the Prince of Songkla University in Phuket, and for one of her internships she worked at an elephant camp (the Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp and Resort). It was here that Fang realised that working with elephants was what she wanted to do as a career, and on graduating she applied to the Wildlife Friend Foundation Thailand (WFFT) where she worked for nearly four years. She loved working there, but says that she really wanted to learn more about elephant care, and so she applied for the job at STEF Thailand. “I have been working here for over a month now, and I love it” says Fang. “Everyday there is something new to learn. I feel like I’m living my dream”.

As well as working with elephants, Fang also loves meeting people and learning about different cultures, so she’s looking forward to welcoming veterinary volunteers from all over the world when the programme starts in November (for more information about the volunteer programme, visit the STEFT website
